You may be surprised to discover how much you might actually have in common with the D’OD.

We all know that the one and only D’OD is the true king of Ireland. With his perfect voice and charming personality, it’s fair to say he will hold that title until the end of time.

Although he is pure perfection in our eyes, we wanted to shed some light on the hero of our land and prove that he is more like us than we think.

Read on to discover some things you might have in common with Daniel O’Donnell. You might be surprised to see how similar you are.

    10. You love your mammy, and she loves you – Daniel’s relationship with his mammy was so heartwarming

It’s no secret that Daniel loves his late mammy, Julia O’Donnell née McGonagle. Daniel was always very open about his love for his mammy, calling her his Queen.

Mammy O’Donnell worked very hard for her children, which is evident in Daniel’s love for her. If you love your mammy, then you definitely have something in common with Daniel.

    9. You love some Chinese dishes – who doesn’t?

According to danielodonnell.org, Daniel’s favourite foods include mince, potatoes, and ‘some’ Chinese dishes.

So, good news if you’re partial to a spice bag or two, this is just one of the things you might have in common with Daniel O’Donnell.

    8. You dropped out of college to follow your dreams – an inspiration to many

If you dropped out of college, this is one of the things you might have in common with Daniel O’Donnell.

Steve Jobs did it, Bill Gates did it, and Daniel O’Donnell did it too.

That’s right, Daniel decided to leave his business studies course in 1980 to pursue a career in music, and we’re so glad he did.

    7. Your favourite colour is yellow – suits his bubbly personality

It’s the colour of sunshine and a symbol of creativity, the perfect colour for the light of our lives.

If your favourite colour is yellow, then this is one of the things you might have in common with Daniel O’Donnell, and you have great taste.

    6. Granny’s LOVE you – but they probably love Daniel more

If grannys love you, this might be another of the things you might have in common with Daniel O’Donnell.

Do you have a way with grannys? Well, so does our Daniel.

With his winning smile and stage presence, he knows how to charm our grandmothers. If he has a place in our granny’s hearts, then he certainly has a place in ours.

    5. You wear the same size shoes – any guesses?

Our good friends at The Vaniel O’Donnell Experience have informed us that Daniel wears a size eight and a half shoe.

However, the pair they have in their collection is quite large in size, fitting up to a size nine. Would you walk a mile in Daniel’s shoes?

    4. You owned an electric guitar but couldn’t play it – we all know someone

We all know a few people who got electric guitars as teenagers that quickly started gathering dust when they never learned to play them. If this is you, then fear not!

This is one of the things you might have in common with Daniel O’Donnell. When Daniel first started his music career, he was a member of his sister Margo’s band, holding a guitar he couldn’t play.

    3. You love Tenerife – a favourite holiday destination

One of the things you might have in common with Daniel O’Donnell is the love of Tenerife.

Daniel’s all-time favourite holiday destination is Tenerife, so much so that he owns a gorgeous holiday villa on the popular island.

Daniel even met his wife Majella while on holiday there, so it’s no wonder they keep visiting again and again.

    2. You don’t drink tea – sacrilege in Ireland

One thing you might have never known about Daniel and, much to our shock and dismay, we recently learned that the Irish icon doesn’t actually drink tea. If you don’t drink tea, then you definitely have something in common with Daniel.

Next time someone gives you guff for not drinking tea, let them know that Daniel doesn’t either, and that will surely put them in their place.

    1. You’re not a registered gas installer – sorry if you are

One of the things you might have in common with Daniel O’Donnell is that you're not a gas installer.

Daniel will always go out of his way to help, to the extent that it might sometimes get him into trouble. We urge you to please leave the broken boilers to the professionals.

How many things do you have in common with our Daniel? If you got all ten, then you might want to have a look in the mirror and check to see if you’re not actually the man himself.
