As the colder weather rolls in, you might be wondering what is there to do in Dublin in autumn? No worries, we’re here with all the details!

The truth is, there are lots of activities in Dublin – and all of Ireland – that you don’t need warm, sunny weather for. So, here are some fun things to do in Dublin in autumn.

Let’s face it, hot weather is never guaranteed in Dublin, even in the summertime! With a temperamental climate, plenty of measures have been put in place to keep us entertained, even when the sun refuses to shine.

So if you’re searching for fun things to do in Dublin in autumn, here is what we’ve put together.

    7. Hellfire Club – discover Dublin’s dark side

Hellfire Club, or Montpellier Hill (which is its official name), is a fascinating spooky place to visit in Dublin around Halloween.

The ideal place for an autumnal walk in Dublin, it has a few beautiful trails traversing around the forest. However, the real attraction is the historic hunting lodge at the top of the hill.

It is allegedly haunted by spirits who protested that a cairn was destroyed on top of the hill. It was also said to be the meeting place for the Hellfire Club, a group that had associations with black magic.

There are many other stories about this hunting lodge, and whether you believe them or not, there’s no denying that the air has a certain chill to it as you start to ascend Montpellier Hill.

It’s the ideal place close to the city to check out on a cooler day.

    6. Bram Stoker Tour – the famed creator of Dracula

Bram Stoker is one of the most famous Dublin residents. He is famous for creating the much-loved horror novel Dracula.

The novel is largely set in Transylvania, but you can partake in some attractions to learn more about Stoker in his hometown.

For instance, a Bram Stoker tour will take you around the city, calling in at various destinations that inspired Stoker to create the novel.

You’ll see his former home and the medieval church that inspired him to create the literary masterpiece. Undoubtedly one of the best fun things to do in Dublin in autumn.

A literary pub crawl is one of the best things to do in Dublin in this season. The city has a deep link to literature, and its many pubs have accommodated the top Irish novelists over the years!

You’ll learn about all of these stories and more in the literary pub crawl, led by hosts and actors who really bring the city alive. It’s also a great way to make some new like-minded friends!

    4. Tour around the Guinness Storehouse – an absolute must

Guinness is synonymous with Ireland, and the best news is that you can enjoy this beverage all year round.

The Guinness Storehouse is an immersive experience that will teach you everything you need to know about this beverage.

From its history to the brewing process to trying some tasty Guinness for yourself, this Dublin attraction will warm you up on chilly days and is a definite must-do on your autumnal Dublin bucket list!

If you are staying in Dublin city centre, you may want to treat yourself and stay in The Shelbourne, one of the best spa hotels in Ireland.

Nothing quite says Dublin like a good night out. There are plenty of bars and clubs in the city, which can be enjoyed in any season.

In fact, autumn is the ideal time to visit, as there will be a buzzing atmosphere and the clubs are a place to escape any cold weather. Popular venues include the Workman’s Club, the George, and Mother.

If you are partial to visiting the casino after you go out on the town, there are a few in Dublin. However, Ireland has mixed opinions on casinos, and some have shut down in recent years.

Casinos are legal, but gambling responsibly is just as important here as elsewhere in the world.

    2. Walk around Phoenix Park – one of the largest urban parks in Europe

Phoenix Park is one of the largest parks in Europe and is a wonderful place for an autumnal stroll.

Take in the beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows of the trees as you stroll around and enjoy one of the best free things to do in Dublin. Ireland is famous for its beautiful green scenery, but it is arguably even more epic in the autumn!

You might not be able to camp in the autumn, but Ireland is ideal for road tripping during this season.

Tourist attractions won’t be as popular as they are in the summer months and you’ll also be able to enjoy the beautiful seasons. You’ll meet more locals during this time too!

As you can see, there are loads of things to do in Dublin in autumn. This city is popular any time of year, but September, October, and November are charming months to visit.
